Queer Momentum was founded to build a national movement for freedom, equality and human rights. We are a registered non-partisan nonprofit in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq.

What We Do

We organize campaigns to advance freedom, equality and human rights for 2SLGBTQIA+ people. We support, train and mobilize 2SLGBTQIA+ and allied advocates across Canada. We build coalitions within and across movements to advance a shared vision of a more progressive, free and equal future.

Through our advocacy, we advance transformative change for 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Canada. Together, we are building a better future - for everyone.

Our Story

Momentum grew out of the work of Wisdom2Action, a national consulting firm and social enterprise. As a firm, Wisdom2Action worked closely with 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations across Canada. Through our social enterprise commitments, we had already supported numerous advocacy campaigns alongside queer civil society and grassroots activists.

With the rise of anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate, and continued inequalities experienced by 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, we saw a critical gap in the national queer eco-system: there was no national organization focused explicitly on political advocacy for queer communities. With the anti-2SLGBTQIA+ lobby gaining power and influence, we knew something had to be done. And thus, Momentum was born.

Our role? To mobilize 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies who believe in freedom, equality and human rights. For queer people. For everyone.
