To support the Society of Queer Momentum’s advocacy efforts, we are hiring a part-time organizer in Alberta.
This organizer will support local advocacy efforts alongside partner organizations and peer activists across the province, with a focus on building support for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and opposing anti-2SLGBTQIA+ laws, policies and political platforms.

About the Position:
Part-time position – $30 an hour for 30 hours a month (approximately one day a week)
12-month contract with possibility of renewal
3-month probation period
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support the expansion of provincial 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy infrastructure and
coordination, inclusive of building capacity among local advocates and supporting
effective grassroots mobilization efforts.
Collaborate with Alberta progressive, labour and allied organizations to build a united
response to Danielle Smith and the United Conservative Party and shift public opinion
on the proposed anti-trans policies.
Support the Society of Queer Momentum in planning engagement in the next federal
election, inclusive of bringing a lens grounded in the Alberta context, and support the
expansion of Momentum networks to tap Alberta advocates into federal election efforts.
Recommended Assets and Experiences.
Experience in political organizing and advocacy, inclusive of mobilizing activists,
engaging with elected officials, representing organizations in the media and coordinating
volunteers.
Established relationships with Albera 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations and broader
progressive organizations and activist networks, inclusive of familiarity with
2SLGBTQIA+ influencers and allied stakeholders.
