Building Movement Power - Preparing for the 2025 Federal Election

Preparing for the 2025 Federal Election

A better Canada is possible - for rainbow communities, women, workers, racialized people, our families - for everyone. We can be a country where queer and trans people are just as free, safe and equal as everyone else. Where everyone is able to live a good life in healthy communities - with a prosperous economy and strong public services. We can be a country where every child and every family has the healthcare they need, when and where they need it. A Canada where we have fair wages and our most vulnerable are supported by strong social services and a robust social safety net.

That’s the kind of Canada we want - for queer people, for everyone.

To bring that future closer, we need to get organized for the next federal election. With certain politicians and political parties seeking to divide us, to use 2SLGBTQIA+ people and issues to fuel stigma, a united, organized and politically powerful 2SLGBTQIA+ movement is more important than ever. Together, we can get Canada back on track.

Here’s what you can expect from Queer Momentum in the 2025 federal election:

  1. We will power queer electoral advocacy with a national Vote Rainbow Equality Campaign: We will work with partners and activists to create and power a national campaign focused on voter education, community mobilization and narrative change - such that the voices of queer and trans people are heard. From door knocking to social media influencing to radio ads and lawn signs, we’ll bring a queer lens to the 2025 federal election.
  2. We will support grassroots organizing with training, tools, coordination and strategy: We will provide training and develop tools to support effective messaging and community mobilization. We will work with grassroots organizers on strategy and support coordinated electoral advocacy efforts in every province and territory.
  3. We will uplift policy solutions that advance equality, rights and safety for 2SLGBTQIA+ people: We will work with partners and advocates to identify and uplift policy solutions to advance equality, rights and safety for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and all marginalized people, including but not limited to sustainable funing for 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations, addressing hate, and improving the healthcare and overall well-being of trans and 2SLGBTQIA+ people.
  4. We will educate the public about the stances, policy commitments and voting records of election candidates, political parties and party leaders: We will hold politicians and parties accountable for anti-2SLGBTQIA+ statements, policy commitments and voting records and provide analysis of how and why these issues should concern Canadian voters.
