We are calling on Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to publicly refuse to legislate Transphobia
On Saturday, September 9th, the Conservative Party of Canada membership passed two policies that, if enacted under a Conservative government, would restrict the rights of transgender Canadians. The first policy seeks to ban trans women from women’s washrooms, shelters, scholarships and more. The second policy would interfere in the provision of evidence-based and lifesaving healthcare for trans and gender diverse minors. Both, if enacted, would violate the rights of transgender Canadians and put our community at greater risk of harm.
Transgender people are our neighbours, friends and family. With anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate on the rise across Canada, we are concerned. We urge Pierre Poilievre to stand up for 2SLGBTQIA+ Canadians and speak out against anti-trans hate.
We call on Pierre Poilievre to pledge that a Conservative government will not legislate restrictions on the rights and healthcare of 2SLGBTQIA+ people.
