Jade is a young Afro-L’nu trans woman, artist, educator and community advocate originally from Kjipuktuk, Mi’kma’ki (Halifax, Nova Scotia). She currently is the Director of Operations at Kind Space, a 2SLGBTQIA+ Centre in Ottawa.
Since attending NSCAD University for Art History, Jade has been honored to present at conferences and universities across Canada discussing various topics; many of which include intercultural dialogue, social mutualism and intersectional praxis. Jade strives to create gentle, pragmatic, but rigorous points of entry to EDI through workshops, tool-kits, seminars, or curatorial endeavors such as Trans-Fest, Sanfo-Fest, We are the Griots, and BIPOC BUS.
Jade is only turning the wheel that has always been turned by those who came before her; and she hopes she can be part of a solution where justice, stability and equity can exist without the perpetuation of false dichotomies.
