The Rainbow Week of Action might be over, but the campaign for Rainbow Equality is year round.
Recap from the Rainbow Week of Action
We had a wildly successful inaugural Rainbow Week of Action, with in every province and two territories. People across Canada marched, rallied, wrote letters or otherwise participated. We shrugged off the doom and gloom and speak up for rainbow equality, together.
Here’s our impact, by the numbers:
- 85 events, including 25 rallies and 60 letter writing or related events.
- Thousands of people attended rallies across the country, with over 3000 people marching in Toronto alone.
- 600+ people took the Pledge to Defend Rainbow Equality, including over 130 federal and provincial politicians.
- Over 2600 letters sent to local Members of Parliament and the Prime Minister.
- 53 local and national media hits, inclusive of radio, print media and tv coverage
But have no doubt: the campaign for rainbow equality continues. That’s why we’ve pivoted www.rainbowequality.ca into an ongoing initiative. We will be in touch with partners soon about Pride season.
We invite you to continue amplifying the campaign, inviting your friends to take the pledge or send their MP a letter. Together, we will reject hate and advance a more free, equal and socially just Canada for all our families.
