My name is Thios Mwunvaneza (he/him) and I will be the new Organizer for Queer Momentum in Saskatoon! I am a queer Rwandan-Canadian man living in Saskatoon who is passionate about advocating for queer people of all identities.
I spent half my childhood moving around Saskatchewan and the other half in Kigali, Rwanda. I love talking about disability advocacy, Long COVID awareness, and the intersection between transphobia, disability, fascism, and eugenics, and how each show up in our day-to-day lives. Speaking up for queer people but especially our trans siblings has been a key motivator in my life and in the volunteer work I've done.
I was part of organizing a conference in 2024 called Queering as Community: Making Space in the Classroom, to talk about the current legislation threatening the safety of trans kids in schools and how parents and educators can help. I want to see all queer and trans people able to access identity-affirming care in all spaces, I want to see a free Palestine, and I want to see fascism and capitalism eradicated. I am so excited to be working to advocate for queer people and our liberation!
